Controls Design Engineer of industrial material handling automation systems with emphasis on robotic and vision-based solutions. Position will require the individual to use the project concept & specifications generated by sales team to design a controls system (hardware) to meet those requirements, and work with the project team/customer to support the project through the entire execution phase. Engineering degree is required.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Design, debug, and support custom industrial material handling systems.
    • Work with project team to turn sales concept into a custom solution to meet the project requirements.
    • Design the electrical system of custom automated equipment.
    • Working knowledge of NFPA 70E, NEC, RIA, and OSHA standards.
    • Work with vendors to select components to meet system requirements.
    • Generate electrical schematics and panel layouts in AutoCAD.
    • Work with project team to develop system risk assessments.
    • Generate approval prints and review designs with customer.
    • Generate a BOM and work with purchasing to procure all required components.
    • Generate device layouts and work with shop to plan electrical build.
    • Resolve issues that arise during the equipment build.
    • Debug equipment on the shop floor to ensure it meets the project specifications.
    • Verify fit, form, and function of all electrical systems.
    • Support internal and customer runoff of the equipment.
    • If required, travel to customer facility for equipment startup.

Applicant Qualities:

  • 3+ years of electrical design experience in the automated machinery and robotics systems field focused on system panel design, wiring, and field devices.
    AutoCAD
  • Ability to travel for project kickoff meetings/equipment installations/support
  • BSEE/BSEET degree from an accredited university
  • Microsoft Office software
