Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

Job Summary:

Mechanical Design Engineer for industrial material handling automation systems with emphasis on robotic and vision-based solutions. Position will require the individual to use the project concept & specifications generated by the sales team and customers to design systems (mechanical & pneumatics) to meet those requirements. Must work with the project team and customer to support the project through entire project implementation. Project management duties are required.

Essential Functions:

• Design, debug, and support custom industrial material handling systems.
  • Work with project team to turn sales concept into a custom solution to meet the project requirements.
  • Design all mechanical and pneumatic system components.
  • Work with vendors to select components to meet system requirements.
  • 3D model system using SolidWorks.
  • Perform robot reach studies.
  • Work with project team to develop RIA risk assessments.
  • Generate approval prints and review designs with customers.
  • Generate detail and assembly drawings.
  • Work with purchasing to procure all required components.
  • Resolve issues that arise during the equipment build.
  • Debug equipment on the shop floor to ensure it meets the project specifications.
  • Verify fit, form, and function of all mechanical/pneumatic systems.
  • Support internal and customer runoff of the equipment.

Applicant Qualities:

• SolidWorks 3D CAD experience
• AutoCAD (schematics)
• Ability to travel for project kickoff meetings/equipment installations/support
• Microsoft Office software (Project, Word, Excel)
